Variable Analysis of the influence in cycling accidents: Model development and tool support design

Proposal: PT-2007-055-21CAEM | Awarded: 22.11.2007
Project funded by the Center for Studies and Experimentation of Public Works (CEDEX – Ministry of Development) on variables analysis of the influence in cycling accidents: model development and tool support design.
The project studies the variables that cause accidents in bicycle users in order to decrease the incidents and increase the number of people who use bicycles as a means of transport. This requires a research on these variables; probabilistic models are developed to quantify them and exploring models that can assess the accident rate by varying the number of bicycle users.
With the crucial findings of this research, and in order to assist the institutions that manage the bike infrastructure a web tool will be developed assisting the accident decision-making based on a geo-location system.
